Finance team rides again

17 Nov 2011

A small contingent of enthusiastic bike riders from The University of Sydney Business School recently joined 10,000 other participants in a cycle from Sydney to Wollongong. The event, held annually, is the major fundraising event for MS Australia and, it is the second year in a row that the Business School has entered a team.

Dr Alex Frino (Professor of Finance and Chief Executive Officer of the Capital Markets Cooperative Research Centre Ltd), Professor Michael McKenzie (Chair of the Discipline of Finance), Professor Masud Behnia (Faculty of Engineering), Dr Angelo Aspris (Lecturer, Finance), David Foong (Honours Student, Finance), Ballant Eyeson-Annan (CMCRC), Peter Kitchener (CMCRC), and Steve Wang (CMCRC) completed the ride in just over 4 hours and, in doing so, raised over $2500 for individuals and families facing the challenges posed by Multiple Sclerosis.

With beautiful weather greeting the team for an early morning start, the challenge of completing 90kms on an undulating course was set upon with earnest. Any elements of exhaustion were most certainly made up for by the sensational coastal views along the ride. Professor Alex Frino's preparation for the race was again less than ideal, when he had to stop twice to repair a punctured front tyre. Last year Professor Frino was forced to ride in first gear for the entire race due to a broken rear derailer!

The team look forward to another great ride in 2012!
