The 36th ICAA Annual Sailing Regatta
17 Feb 2011
For the second consecutive year three enthusiastic crews from the University of Sydney Business School took part in the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia sailing regatta.
This year is the 36th year for the event with many crews returning each year to compete, network and generally have a great day on the harbour.
We were delighted to have a couple of renowned international academics form part of our crew with Professor Burkhard Pedell from Stuttgart University Germany, 'A great sailing experience in Sydney harbour with a fabulous crew. The get-together at the award ceremony after the race was very cheerful and outgoing. Thank you very much for this great afternoon that will be a lasting memory of my time in Sydney' and Associate Professor Masafumi Fujino from Nihon University in Japan participating. We also had a couple of our Accounting & Auditing Society members along for the ride, with the President of the Society Anissa Ho and her team-mate Joy taking part.
The yacht skippered by Professor Bob Walker featured strongly again this year taking 3rd place in very windy and trying conditions for this division.
The bigger yacht with Peter Edwards as skipper had a number of industry contacts on board, such as Uwe Schlagmueller - Managing Director, Hands-On Computing; Philip Troop - Finance Director, Macquarie Bank; Lynne Ainsworth - Australasian HR Director, Veyance Technologies (Goodyear); Janet Whitfeld - Westpac Bank and Mark Whitman - Financial Controller, Delorenzo.
The regatta kicked off from the stunning waterside CYC at Rushcutters Bay and toured Sydney Harbour before crews landed back at the yacht club to join in the presentation celebrations.
