Students Win Wallaby Selection
11 Jul 2011
University of Sydney Business School students are set to feature strongly in a Wallaby line-up selected to contest the 2011 Tri-Nations competition.
Dave Dennis (graduate), Dean Mumm (current student) and the already capped Luke Burgess (deferred as he will be travelling overseas) have all been named as potential starting options in coach Robbie Dean's 40-man squad. Another current business student, the highly experienced Berrick Barnes, may also join the Wallaby squad when he recovers from injury. The squad assembled in Sydney yesterday before the international season kicks off on Sunday against Samoa at ANZ Stadium.
University of Sydney Business School's Director of Marketing and External Relations Michelle McDonald says the selection of current and past members of the school's student body is exciting news.
"The world of business and management is nothing if not competitive, so I'd like to think that the lessons we've imparted at the Business School will serve our students well when they go head-to-head with some of the fiercest opponents in world rugby," McDonald said. "In all seriousness, however, achieving selection for a group as prestigious as the Wallabies is an enormous honour and a just reward for the effort and talent that all four players constantly display. I wish them and the team all the best."
