Business School team runs the Sydney Half Marathon
25 May 2012
A team of dedicated runners from the University of Sydney Business School completed the Sydney Morning Herald Half Marathon on Sunday 20 May. The event was run to raise money for more than 600 charities, including the official charity partner, Breast Cancer Network Australia.
The Business School team, led by Associate Professor Daniel Oron from the Discipline of Business Analytics, included Ian Howson and Rochel Hoffman from the Business Programs Unit, and James Goswell, a Business Analytics tutor.
"I've done several runs for charity in the past," Daniel said, "and I was always impressed by the number of businesses and social groups running for worthwhile causes. I felt it was time that the Business School took part in something like this, to raise some money and help boost staff morale."
The Business School team all managed very respectable times for the run, covering the 21-kilometre course through the Sydney CBD. James Goswell completed the event in 1:20:47, followed by Ian Howson (1:41:08), Daniel Oron (1:52:49) and Rochel Hoffman (2:10:23).
"I am very proud of the team for rising to the challenge and supporting such a worthy cause," he continued. "I'd like to thank the Business School for supporting the team, and in particular, Kandice Cherry and Eddie Anderson who pushed the idea from the beginning."
