17 May 2012
The Business School has appointed veteran journalist and public relations consultant, Trevor Watson, as its Director of Media.
"Trevor will provide a point of contact for the media," said the Dean of the School, Professor Geoff Garrett. "He will also proactively work with journalists to ensure that they have access to the Business School's insights and analysis as well as the results of its cutting end research."
"We have an unparalleled understanding of the commercial world as well as the public policy issues that affect business and the not for profit sector," Professor Garrett added. "Through the media we can reach out and make a valuable and highly relevant contribution to Australian business and business across the Asia Pacific Region."
Trevor has had a distinguished career in both journalism and corporate PR.
He worked with the ABC for two decades. A Walkley Award winner, he was ABC correspondent in Canberra, New Delhi, Sydney, Bangkok, Beijing, Port Moresby and Singapore. He also served as Executive Producer for AM and was Head of ABC Radio Current Affairs.
In the private sector as Account Director with Ethical Strategies, Trevor worked with clients such as American Express, Eli Lilly and GlaxoSmithKline on strategy development and implementation, media counsel, corporate video production, issues and crisis management and media training.
