The University of Sydney Business School would like to congratulate Master of Commerce student and pentathlete, Ed Fernon, on his official selection for the 2012 London Olympic Games.
Qualifying for the Australian Olympic Team as the highest ranked athlete from Oceania in the historic sport of Modern Pentathlon, Ed will be fencing, freestyle swimming, showjumping, cross-country running and pistol shooting for his debut Olympic performance. In the 100th year of the Modern Pentathlon's presence in the Olympic Games, Ed will come face to face with 36 athletes in five arenas of the intense straight final event.
"It will be so exciting to be held in such a fantastic place... there will be such a great atmosphere in London," Fernon told the Australian Olympic Committee following his selection. "Since I took up pentathlon I had the goal of competing at the Olympics so for that to come to completion now is very surreal."
Ed Fernon graduated from a Bachelor of Commerce degree in 2009 and is currently undertaking a specialisation of entrepreneurship in a Masters of Commerce degree at the University of Sydney Business School. Read Ed's Big Opportunity Blog post, Going for Gold.
