13 Sep 2012
More than 180 alumni, corporate and staff guests were on hand to hear Sir David Tweedie, President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland and former Chairman of the International Accounting Standards Board, present the 2012 RJ Chambers Memorial Research Lecture at an event co-hosted by the Business School and the Accounting Foundation.
"It was an honour and privilege to be invited to my favourite city in the world to deliver the lecture in his honour," Sir David said. The lecture he presented on the night was both extremely entertaining, and relevant to both academics and practitioners of accounting.
The RJ Chambers Memorial Research Lecture was supported by eight corporate and professional organisation table sponsors, including BDO, CPA Australia, Deloitte, Ernst & Young, ICAA, IPA, KPMG and PwC.
"We were delighted with the tremendous turnout for this event," said Professor David Grant, Deputy Dean of the Business School. "It is a reflection of the extensive connections the business school enjoys with industry and the accounting profession."
The Accounting Foundation was formed in 1982, to promote excellence in the fields of accounting and financial arrangement, and is governed by a council comprising leaders from the business community and senior University academics.
