State of the Art MBA Campus takes shape for 2013

20 Nov 2012

The Dean of the University of Sydney Business School, Professor Geoffrey Garrett, says the School's new city campus will be a state of the art facility purpose designed for students joining Australia's most innovative Master of Business Administration (MBA) program in February 2013.

The campus is spread over one and a half floors of the well known Stockland Building at 133 Castlereagh Street in the heart of Sydney's busy CBD. The new facility will have teaching rooms, a boardroom, an event space, breakout areas and individual work areas.

"We have developed our MBA from the ground up and this has given us an opportunity to choose a campus design to enhance learning outcomes," said Professor Garrett. "The CBD location reinforces our commitment to delivering a business oriented program in cooperation with business."

"Business will work with us to shape the way people learn in our program," added the Business School's Director, MBA programs, Associate Professor Nick Wailes. "Our MBA program will produce a new generation of creative business leaders who are equipped with cutting edge knowledge, the practical ability to apply that knowledge and the personal skills to motivate and influence others."

At a practical level Professor Garrett said the CBD campus offered significant advantages over the existing Business School facilities in Sydney's inner western suburb of Darlington.

"Initially, our MBA program is being offered on a part time basis to students who already have at least three years of work experience," he explained. "For this reason, we decided to conduct weekend and evening classes in a convenient city location."

"Our MBA program will be offered internationally from 2015 to students who want to study at a leading global business school with a headquarters at the very centre of one of the world's leading commercial centres," Professor Garrett concluded. "Our program and our location will help those students develop the personal and professional skills to realise their ambitions in a global environment full of both challenges and opportunities.
