The Director of Admissions and an Associate Professor in the Discipline of Accounting at the University of Sydney Business School, Dr Nigel Finch, has been appointed Associate Dean, Undergraduate.

In an announcement to staff, the Business School's Co-Deans, Professor Tyrone Carlin and Professor David Grant, said they were delighted that Dr Finch has accepted responsibility for undergraduate programs.

While taking on his new role, Dr Finch will continue to oversee the Business School's recruitment strategies and admissions processes across undergraduate and postgraduate programs as Director of Admissions.

He will also remain an Associate Professor in the Business School's Discipline of Accounting where he has conducted valuable research in the areas of creative accounting, security valuation, mining, asset impairment, and financial disclosures.

Dr Finch is a member of CPA Australia's International Advisory Committee. He is also a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and a fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia, the Taxation Institute of Australia, the Australian Institute of Company Directors and CPA Australia.

Professor Grant and Professor Carlin said that Dr Finch's appointment was in keeping with the Business School's strategy which focuses on high quality staff with strong leadership credentials.

"The University of Sydney Business School is a world leader in management education and the appointment of someone of Dr Finch's calibre to the position of Associate Dean, Undergraduate, is in line with our global standing," the Co-Deans said.

In the past week, the University of Sydney Business School has topped the AFR BOSS Magazine's Executive MBA rankings while its Master of Management Program has been ranked in the top five in Asia and in the top 50 in the world by the Financial Times.

As the only Australian Master of Management to appear in the FT's internationally recognised rankings, the Business School's Master of Management is now the nation's premier program of its type.

Professor Carlin and Professor Grant concluded by praising the truly outstanding work of the previous Associate Dean, Undergraduate, Associate Professor, Philip Seltsikas, who they said had taken the Business School to "where it is now internationally recognised as a leading provider of undergraduate business and management education".
