Barcelona graduation for world-class CEMS MIM students
17 Dec 2013
19 University of Sydney Business School students who completed the internationally recognised CEMS Master of Management (MIM) program in 2013 have been presented with their degrees at a graduation ceremony in Barcelona, Spain.
The MIM, the flagship pre-experience degree course offered by the CEMS Global Alliance in Management Education, attracts around a thousand students each year.
Each student spends the first semester at their home institution, then undertaking further study on exchange at one or more of the other CEMS business schools around the world.
The alliance includes over 60 multinational Corporate Partner firms, all of whom are actively involved in providing students with industry-embedded experience.
The University of Sydney Business School is the only CEMS accredited institution in Australia and our delivery of the CEMS MIM is closely supported by two founding Corporate Partners, Deloitte and QBE.
The 2013 international graduation ceremony, hosted by Barcelona's ESADE Business School, was attended by more than one thousand people including academics, industry partners and some 700 students from around the world.
The University of Sydney Business School was represented by Stuart Orborne, Deloitte senior partner and School Advisory Board member, Professor John Shields, the Associate Dean Postgraduate, and Lance Graham, the school's CEMS Program Manager.
"It was very encouraging to see 19 of our 21 CEMS graduates in Barcelona," said Professor Shields.
"The annual graduation ceremony, which is hosted by a different CEMS member each year, also allows the key CEMS governance committees to meet with the aim of ensuring that our MIM remains one of the world's leading programs of its kind," said Professor Shields who, along with Mr Orborne, is a member of the CEMS Executive Board.
The highly respected Financial Times has consistently ranked the CEMS MIM as one of the world's top pre-experience postgraduate management programs.
"CEMS offers high-calibre, internationally-minded pre-experience master's students a unique multi-country experience, blending academic excellence and real-life business practice," Professor Shields said.
"CEMS is also an attempt to set a global standard of excellence for MIM courses by providing an outstanding education to students who aspire to a leading role in international business," Professor Shields concluded.
