Business School Alumna appointed Chancellor of the University of Sydney

Belinda Hutchinson AM, an alumna of the University of Sydney Business School, has been appointed Chancellor of the University at a Senate meeting on 4 February, 2013.
Ms Hutchinson, who completed a Bachelor of Economics with a major in Accounting in 1976, becomes the 18th Chancellor of the University, succeeding Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO.
"It is an enormous privilege for the Business School to have one of our alumna appointed to such a prestigious office within the University," said Professor Geoffrey Garrett, Dean of the Business School. "Belinda's unwavering belief in the importance of tertiary education and world-class research will help to guide the University on its continuing path to excellence for years to come."
"Additionally, Belinda's appointment to the role of Chancellor will further enhance the very strong ties that the Business School has with the wider business community," Professor Garrett said.
Belinda Hutchinson currently holds a number of senior positions across a broad spectrum of Australian industry, including Chairman of QBE Insurance Group, directorships at St Vincent's Health Australia, AGL Energy, the Salvation Army Eastern Territory Advisory Board, Australian Philanthropic Services, and the NSW State Library Foundation.
Belinda is also a member of the Federal Government Financial Services Advisory Council, and is the President of Chief Executive Women, a member-based organisation comprising of 240 of Australia's female leaders.
