The University of Sydney Business School has announced that it will continue its sponsorship of the Sydney University Football Club (SUFC), and be part of the 150th anniversary celebrations of Australia's oldest rugby club.
"We are delighted to again sponsor the SUFC, allowing the Business School and the SUFC to further cement an already successful partnership," said Professor Tyrone Carlin, Co-Dean of the Business School.
"We believe that there has always been a strong link between high level academic study and elite sporting activity," Professor Carlin continued. "It is of great importance to the Business School to continue with our commitment to sport, and provide our students with a well-rounded education, in and beyond the classroom."
"Our partnership with the Business School is extremely important to us as both organisations share mutual values, standards and a strong focus on developing leaders on and off the field." Said Baden Stephenson SUFC Executive General Manager
The Business School has historically held close ties with the SUFC, and counts several high-profile rugby players among its alumni, including several representative players such as Phil Waugh, Berrick Barnes and Dean Mumm.
There are a number of current Business School students in the current SUFC line-up, including Hugh Frazer (BCom), Nic Stirzaker (BCom / BLaw), Aldy King (MCom), Ben Cannon (BCom) and Josh Dillon (BCom / BLaw).
This year marks the 150th Anniversary of the SUFC. In that time, the Club has produced 112 Australian Representatives, including 93 Wallabies, with a grand total of 930 test matches between them.
