Business School students welcomed at Semester 2 Orientation
26 Jul 2013
The newest group of students to join our undergraduate and postgraduate learning communities has been welcomed to the University and the Business School this week, with Semester 2 intake orientation events occurring throughout the School.
More than 30 separate events were held for our incoming students - all designed to welcome them, introduce them to academic and administrative staff and assist them in settling in to their programs of study within the Business School.
These events included separate Undergraduate and Postgraduate Orientation sessions held in the Seymour Centre on Wednesday morning and afternoon. The Postgraduate session was followed by a Careers and Employer Relations Office hosted careers opportunities session featuring speakers from some of the Business School's corporate partners, including Hilti Australia.
A welcome barbecue and 15 Transition Sessions were also organised for the students, providing the opportunity to review and develop key learning skills before classes start next week. For Postgraduate students, an additional 16 program-specific and specialisation-specific orientation sessions were held on Thursday and Friday, providing our new students with the opportunity to meet each other, and Business School staff, prior to commencing their studies.
"The spirit in which these events were planned and delivered serves as yet another reminder of our School's underlying capability and collegiality," said Professor John Shields, Associate Dean (Postgraduate Coursework) at the Business School. "Such achievements, and the caliber of students we have welcomed to the Business School this week, augur well for our future."
