Business School helps break rowing records

The Rowing New South Wales State Championships were held on 10-12
February, 2012 at the Sydney International Regatta Centre. The event
attracted a large field of competitors, including the majority of
Australia's Olympic hopefuls seeking selection to the London 2012 squad.
"The 2012 NSW Rowing Championships was the largest conducted in the
associations 133 year history, up 15 percent from last year," Rowing New
South Wales CEO Christian Renford said. "We broke many records in terms
of entries, attendance and public interest both on course and on-line."
The University of Sydney Business School has a long association with
Rowing NSW, and provided sponsorship for several events on the program
for school students from around the country.
"Rowing NSW gratefully acknowledges the contribution of the University
of Sydney Business School in this record breaking achievement,"
Christian Renford said. "Their support of the State Championships and
Rowing NSW since 2008 has been a vital enabler in providing development
programs for athletes and coaches throughout the state."
Acting Dean of the Business School Professor Tyrone Carlin was on hand
to award medals to several of the winning competitors across a variety
of races, including the Geelong Grammar Schoolgirl Eight and the Scotch
College Schoolboy Eight.
"The State Championships was a fantastic event which showcased the
talents of some of Australia's finest athletes," Professor Carlin said.
"The Business School has a long history of supporting elite achievement
in sport. We are very proud to continue to be involved with schools and
the community at this level, helping to find the next generation of
leaders in both business and sport."
