Global Executive MBA Supports Sydney Uni Rugby Victors
05 Oct 2010
The Sydney University Rugby Club, of which the Global Executive MBA is a proud sponsor, celebrated its sixth consecutive Shute Shield title on Saturday with the first grade team defeating Randwick 46-6.
A crowd of more than 5400 people braved dismal conditions at Concord Oval to watch Sydney Uni win and in doing so, equal Randwick's record of six straight premierships in a characteristically strong defensive display.
The team, which skipper and current E & B student Tim Davidson has rated as one of the best premiership teams he has led, features a number of students from the Faculty of Economics and Business. Wallabies squad members Dean Mumm, Berrick Barnes, Luke Burgess, Dave Dennis, are all currently studying postgraduate programs in the faculty. Two other Economics and Business students Dave McDuling, Dan Kelly Jr were also part of the victorious team. Both David and Tim Davidson will leave Sydney Uni next year to take up Super 15 contracts with the Queensland Reds and Melbourne Rebels respectively.
Global Executive MBA Program Director, Associate Professor Nick Wailes said it was a fitting end to the season. "The sponsorship has been an important partnership for us this year and really emphasises our commitment to producing leaders on and off the field. We're obviously thrilled with the result for the team and pleased that a year of hard work has paid off so successfully."
