The main objective of the Business and Labour History Group is to promote historical research and teaching within the University of Sydney Business School. The group organises seminars and conferences on historical themes in the areas of accounting history, business history, economic history and labour history. It also runs research projects funded by business and labour organisations on a variety of themes and welcomes industry proposals for projects relating to organisational and occupational histories. Past projects include a history of Citibank in Australia and current projects include a history of Westfund, the regional health insurance mutual. Since 1986 it has also been the home of the journal Labour History. The group receives funding from the University of Sydney Business School and the Australian Society for the Study of Labour History (ASSLH). The BLHG also manages the Burren St. archives, which holds material of interest to accounting historians, business historians and labour historians.
