The Co-operative Experience in Italy

Francesco Capalbo's presentation intended to offer an outline of the cooperative experience in Italy. After reporting the legal requirements to be registered as a cooperative, and the connected tax benefits, a data set is presented on the numbers of cooperatives existing in Italy and on their incidence in the different industries.
The recent report (2009) of the Italian Chamber of Commerce depicts a phenomenon accounting for some 6.5% of total occupation in the country, and an 11% of private sector occupation, and for about 4.3% of total added value created by Italian Enterprises.
