  • Professor Robert Marks (AGSM at UNSW and University of Melbourne) regularly runs a course on Simulation in the Social Sciences.
  • SydneyAgents is an informal group of researchers in the Sydney area, meeting on a monthly basis for seminars about research projects using agent-based methodologies.
  • COSNeT was an Australia-wide network for complex systems research. Although the initiative was ceased to operate at the end of its funding cycle in 2009, the website still features the most comprehensive list of local researchers throughout all disciplines.
  • The Centre for Research in Complex Systems (CRiCS) has grown to include aspects of business modelling and the social systems theory, as shown in the figure below. Led by Terry Bossomaier , it has developed into a local hub for research in complex systems.
  • At the University of Sydney's School of Mathematics and Statistics, Professor Nalini Joshi leads the Complex Systems Research Cluster.
  • In the closely related field of Social Network Analysis the MelNet group around Philippa Pattison and Garry Robins is actively developing innovative research methods to analyse the networked structure of social ties and interactions.
