Keynote Speaker: Renée Adams, UNSW

Research on top management teams and boards of directors has grown substantially over the past decades. Corporate governance scandals and the financial crisis have put upper echelons and their decisions in the center of public attention. Scholars are increasingly investigating the impact of top management teams and boards on businesses and society.

While early research on corporate elites was predominantly North American and corporate governance codes based on the Anglo-Saxon model, we observe a variation in governance and decision-making around the world. Corporate governance and leadership practices are deeply rooted in the national heritage and the institutional environment in which companies operate. This puts a premium on research investigating the competing pressures posed by the national institutional environment and the international developments towards standardisation of governance.

The aim of this workshop is to bring together Australian researchers in the area of strategic leadership and corporate governance, and offer a platform to develop collaborative research and strengthen networks with leading international scholars. We invite interested researchers to present their recent work in the area and receive feedback from fellow colleagues in a friendly collaborative environment.

The workshop will take place on November 25th at University of Sydney Darlington Center, 10 am until 6 pm, followed by dinner.
