National Diversity and Inclusion Survey Launch Event
4th Nov 2014 9:30am-11:30am
The Migrants@Work Research Group, Co-convened by Dimitria Groutsis and Di van den Broek have undertaken a ground-breaking survey on diversity and inclusion policies in Australian workplaces. This is the first of an annual survey hoping to get a ‘state of the nation’ snapshot of diversity and inclusion practices in Australian firms. The survey will be supported by individual case studies and is part of a global diversity index that compares to similar research undertaken with Professor Mustafa Ozbilgin in the United Kingdom; Eddy Ng in Canada and Olivia Kyriakidou on Greece.
The results of the survey will be presented in a policy Report which will be available in February 2016.
A survey has found that a large percentage of Australian organisations under-resource their diversity and inclusion policies despite the benefits of a diverse and inclusive workforce.
This year, more than 300,000 migrants and asylum seekers have entered Europe, that is, triple the figure for the same time last year. We are currently bearing witness to the largest humanitarian crisis since World War II.

Dr Stephen Clibborn was quoted in an article in the Sydney Morning Herald about migrants who work in breach of their visas, or work without a valid visa.
