Bio
Barbara Mescher was admitted to practice as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales. She worked as a litigation solicitor for medium sized commercial law firms in the areas of company law, contracts, negligence and trade practices.
Barbara began her academic career at the University of New South Wales before joining the University of Sydney in 1995 as a lecturer. Barbara is an enthusiastic teacher. She has an interest in and has developed several new units of study at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. Barbara has researched many aspects of commercial law including areas of the law needing reform. Barbara has a research commitment to the area of applied ethics: both professional and business ethics.
Barbara is a member of the Ethics Committee of her professional body, the Law Society of NSW. This Committee deals with ethical issues encountered by Solicitors arising from legal practice. Barbara is also a member of the Education Sub-Committee which has developed an ethics study program as part of the Mandatory Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) for legal practitioners.
Legal Profession Engagement
Barbara was a member of the Ethics Committee of the Law Society of NSW, the lawyers' professional body. Barbara was appointed a member of the working party to amend the Society's Statement of Ethics.

Barbara is the Honours Co-ordinator for the Discipline of Business Law.
BPEG
Barbara assisted in the rewriting the Constitution of the Business and Professional Ethics Group (BPEG).
