Bio

Harry's research interests are labour and business history, biography and leadership. His PhD employed biographical method historically in an evaluation of trade union leadership. He is also interested more generally in organisational leadership and biography as a method for studying organisations.

    ABC TV's 7.30 report has profiled former TV star and NSW politician, Lis Kirkby, now in her 90s, who is on track to become the University's oldest PhD graduate. Ms Kirkby is currently undertaking her doctorate under the supervision of Dr Harry Knowles within the Work and Organisational Discipline of the University of Sydney Business School.
