Jim Kitay specialises in comparative research on industrial relations and human resource management and employment relations in services industries. He is currently the co-coordinator of an ARC funded study of employment relations in the automobile and banking industries in Australia, Asia, North America and Europe, as well as research into the activities, influence and careers of management consultants.

Jim has been the co-ordinator of the International Banking Research Network, involving researchers in nine OECD countries. His publications include: Changing Employment Relations in Australia; From Tellers to Sellers: Changing Employment Relations in Banking; and articles on management consultants, banking, workplace industrial relations and theoretical developments in industrial relations and human resource management. His teaching areas include human resource development and the sociology of work.
