Bio

Nimer is a Postgraduate Fellow at the University Of Sydney Business School. Currently he’s engaged as a sessional lecturer and tutor for the International Business discipline teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Prior to joining the university, he was engaged in industry managing cutting edge IT-transformation projects, and short-term strategy consulting projects.

Nimer is an alumnus of the Master of Commerce and Master of International Business program at the University of Sydney, and he was sponsored into the International Honors Society Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) in 2008 for his scholarly achievements. Prior to migrating to Australia he held various senior IT-positions within the United Nations World Food Program across the Middle East and Africa.


Thesis working title

The impact of institutional evolution on business groups and the role of dynamic capabilities

Nimer's research focuses on the institutional evolution in emerging markets and its impact on the performance of emerging market firms specifically business groups. This research aims to enhance our understanding of how business groups respond to institutional reform, and are enabled by their unique dynamic capabilities to strengthen and grow in fierce competitive markets. The findings of the study will advance research on the phenomena of the business group. It will also provide leaders with insight into the structures, strategies and capabilities that enable such multinationals to continue to grow as they confront changes in the institutional context.
