Paul Scifleet is a Lecturer with the Discipline of Business Information Systems at the University of Sydney Business School. He has over twelve years experience in information management and has worked extensively on the design and implementation of electronic document and content management systems. He has previously held academic positions at the University of New South Wales and, more recently, as a Visiting Scholar with the Information School at the University of Sheffield (UK), the Royal School Library and Information Science, Copenhagen and Copenhagen Business School, Denmark.
Paul's research focuses on the design and management of information resources in networked environments, and in particular, the challenges individuals and organisations face as information management policy changes in the digital economy. His research is concerned with the ways electronic networks and information flows shape (and are shaped by) social and organisational communication and the changing dimensions of documenting society electronically. Current themes in research include: Electronic records design and management; the organisation of knowledge in digital networks; information access and information privacy provisions in the management of consumer information.
Paul is a professional member of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), the American Society for Information Science & Technology (ASIST) and the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA). He is a reviewer for the International Journal of Information Management and reviews on a continuing basis for conferences in Information Management and Information Systems.
Current research projects include: Social Media for Knowledge Sharing in Global Organisations and Perceptions of privacy and consumer information management in Web 2.0.
