Dr. Ranjit Voola's research revolves around strategic marketing and the application of strategic marketing concepts in various contexts; including international marketing and poverty alleviation. In the context of poverty, he is interested in the role of market-based mechanisms in alleviating poverty. Ranjit is the Director of the Poverty Alleviation and Profitability Research Group. He has developed and will be teaching an innovative postgraduate management unit titled 'Poverty Alleviation and Profitability' in 2014.
??He has published in several journals including the Journal of Public Policy and Marketing, European Journal of Marketing, Journal of Marketing Management, Journal of Strategic Marketing, Australasian Marketing Journal and Journal of Marketing Education. Ranjit has supervised one PhD, two Doctor of Business Administration and three Honours Scholars. He currently co-supervises two Phd Scholars, Jarrod Vassallo at University of Cambridge and Alexandra Kriz at the University of Sydney. He is a member of the University of Sydney Research Ethics Committee.
His teaching philosophy is based on 'questioning assumptions' which he believes provides a solid basis for developing unique marketing strategies. Ranjit was the recipient of the prestigious 2008 Pearson Education Australia - New Zealand Marketing Academy (ANZMAC) Emerging Marketing Educator of the Year Award. In 2012, he was awarded a Dean's citation for teaching. In 2013, he was the Co-Chair of the Marketing Discipline for Learning and Teaching. Ranjit is a co-author of the Jain et al., 2012 Marketing: Planning and Strategy Text book and the Kotabe et al., 2014 International Marketing Text Book.
