Vikas is Associate Professor of International Business and Strategy in the Discipline of International Business at the University of Sydney Business School. From 2004 to 2009 he was Assistant Professor of International Business and Strategy in the Department of Management at Bocconi University in Milan, Italy and a Senior Lecturer at University of Sydney from 2009 to 2011. He was a Visiting Scholar at the Collaboratory for Research on Global Projects (CRGP) at Stanford University from 2008 to 2009. He obtained his doctoral degree in International Business in 2004 from the Boeing Institute of International Business, John Cook School of Business at Saint Louis University.
Vikas's research interests are in the areas of Internationalization, Emerging Market Firms, Emerging Markets, Business Groups, and Outsourcing/Offshoring. His research has been published in premier international business/management journals such as Journal of Management Studies (JMS), Management International Review (MIR), Coprorate Governance: An International Review (CGIR), Journal of World Business (JWB), British Journal of Management (BJM), European Journal of Marketing (EJM), and Thunderbird International Business Review (TIBR). He is co-guest editor of the special issue on 'Offshoring and Outsourcing of High Value Company Functions' in JMS (2010). Vikas is currently co-guest editing a special issue in the Journal of International Management (2012) on 'Emerging Market Firm Competitiveness' and one in MIR (2013) on 'Leveraging India: Strategies for Global Competitiveness'. Vikas serves on the Editorial Review Board of JMS, MIR, TIBR and the Global Strategy Journal (GSJ). He is the director of the Emerging Market Internationalization Research Group (EMIRG) at the University of Sydney Business School.
Vikas has taught International Business/Strategy courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels. He has also been involved in Executive training and teaching international management modules to Executive MBAs at SDA Bocconi School of Management. He is memeber of the Academy of International Business, Academy of Management, Strategic Management Society, Australia-New Zealand International Business Academy, and the Indian Academy of Management. He has been a regular contributor to the above Academies as presenter, discussant, reviewer, chair, and panel organizer. Vikas received the Best Reviewer Award from the International Management Division at the Academy of Management Conference, 2007. His co-authored paper "The performance of group-affiliated firms during institutional transition: A longitudinal study of Indian firms", in 2009 won CGIR's Best Paper 'Runner Up' Award.
