Wayne is an internationally distinguished practitioner and leading expert in Corporate Finance and Valuations, with over 40 years of experience in the industry. Following 23 years as a Corporate Finance Partner at Coopers & Lybrand (now PricewaterhouseCoopers), Wayne established the independent valuation practice, Lonergan Edwards & Associates Limited, with Craig Edwards, in 2001.

Throughout his career, Wayne has been responsible for numerous assignments for both public and private companies as well as various government departments, with a particular emphasis on valuations and consequential loss assessments.

Wayne has been a member of several national and international accounting policy and standard setting committees, including the Companies and Securities Advisory Committee, the Australian Accounting Standards Board, the International Accounting Standards Sub-committees on Financial Instruments and the International Financial Reporting Interpretations Committee.

Wayne has held a number of senior roles in the Securities Institute of Australia (now FINSIA), including three years as National president, three years as State president and Chairman of numerous sub-committees on capital market related matters.

In addition, Wayne has also been a regular influential contributor to professional literature, having published the leading texts The Valuation of Businesses, Shares and Other Equity and The Valuation of Mining Assets and over 100 technical papers. In 2008, Wayne was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Science in Economics from The University of Sydney in recognition of his outstanding technical contributions and involvement in the industry.
