ALEC is looking to enter the renewable energy market and increase the use of solar PV panels within Alice Springs. Students analysed potential company structures and created a feasibility study for ALEC to enter the market.

CAT Kings Canyon Indigenous Tourism

King's Canyon, NT

Completed a regional tourism market analysis for the area surrounding Watarrka (Kings Canyon) National Park. Analysis included the planning processes (especially business modelling), negotiations with prospective partners, and resource allocation.

CAT Wanmarra Community Bussines Planning

Kings Canyon, NT

Met with Indigenous elders to explore the possibility of setting up a camping social enterprise in the Watarrka (Kings Canyon) National Park area.

Growing the Burnett

Burnett Region, QLD

Created a business plan analysing new sources of revenue and new ways to engage the community in the creation of a robust food producing hub of Central Queensland.

Growing the Burnett - Regional Food Security

Burnett Region, QLD

Provided assistance planning next steps in promoting and/or training for community events. Evaluated the current situation in the Burnett region to provide Growing the Burnett data needed to grow the network and submit grant applications.

Gulaga Forest Board of Management

Narooma, NSW

Students assisted the Gulaga Forest Board of Management in determining a viable long-term tourism strategy. Business planning and an economic feasibility study was completed.

Hunter Valley Cheese Co

Pokolbin, SW

Analysed the growth strategy of a premier cheese manufacturer in the Hunter Valley region. Students provided recommendations on lease arrangements, operations, and educational activities.

i-Nature Organic Farm

Hanoi, Vietnam

Developed an expansion strategy to grow production capacity and reach new markets for Hanoi’s organically produced produce.

IN-STeP Alternate School Centre

Townsville, QLD

With grant funding expiring, students assisted the IN-STeP staff with choosing an alternative path forward to generating revenue with a partnership with Charters Towers School of Distance, an Alternative Learning Centre for youth.

Indigenous Innovation Centre

Broken Hill, NSW

Broken Hill City Council is considering gifting an unused film studio to the Indigenous people of the Broken Hill area. Students interviewed Indigenous elders and spoke with key stakeholders to build consensus around the handover of the property.

Maranoa Kangaroo Harvesting Co-op

Maranoa, QLD

Developed a business plan connecting kangaroo harvesting opportunities with financial objectives. Identified international export customers while considering financial and marketing components.

Narooma Next - Community Strategic Plan

Narooma, NSW

Through 30+ interviews, conducted an economic situation analysis of the Narooma region. Worked with local business and community leaders to form a ‘bottom-up’ strategic community plan that utilises existing assets to create jobs and growth.

Narooma Oyster Festival

Narooma, NSW

Students evaluated the Festival, identifying ways to optimally grow and better utilise limited resources. Additionally, how to attract interest from an external party to add financial security was explored.

NSWALC Renewables Feasibility

Bourke, NSW

The study considered wind, solar and biofuel activities and identified activity that would engage with local Aboriginal communities to create opportunities for shared learning, employment and locally owned Indigenous enterprises.

Orange LALC Nursery

Orange, NSW

Created a business plan for the long term success of an Indigenous owned nursery enterprise. Through contracts with local mining companies, education activities, and the sale of seedlings, the commercial venture is better placed to survive once grant funding expires.

Outback Stores

Berrimah, NT

Students analysed best practices of existing Outback Stores to provide future growth recommendations. Due to the isolated nature of each store, special consideration was given to human resources, operations, and training.

Shaman Creative - Story Maps

Alice Springs, NT

Explored the possibility of launching an Indigenous cultural experience mobile application connecting Aboriginal enterprises with tourism companies. Students included a well-researched market strategy and replication in international markets.

The Palace Hotel

Broken Hill, NSW

In collaboration with the Faculty of Architecture, students designed a structural addition to the iconic hotel which included how the built environment impacted customer flow and interactions. Business students complemented this work, drafting a business strategy on how best to mix services and product sales to maximise revenues.

Ungooroo Aboriginal Corp. WUPA Festival

Singleton, NSW

Strategic review of the current operations with the intention of providing recommendations for growth and expansion of the WUPA Festival, an Aboriginal arts exhibition in the Hunter Valley.
