The University of Sydney Business School continues to produce outstanding graduates who take up leading positions in business, government, academia and the not-for-profit sector. The range of Business School scholarships we offer reflects our strong links with industry and the corporate sector, as well as our commitment to students. A scholarship from The University of Sydney is more than just financial assistance. It is recognition of an individual's talent and hard work and can be an integral step towards a fulfilling career.

Many of the Business School scholarships are enhanced by links with sponsorship partners in the business, alumni and wider University communities. Other scholarships are sponsored by individuals, corporations and valued members of our alumni network.

Postgraduate Scholarships - Future Students

Business Leader Postgraduate Scholarship

The University of Sydney Business School is offering up to ten scholarships each semester for local and international students admitted to one of the eligible single Master’s postgraduate coursework programs listed below. The scholarships are awarded on merit to the most outstanding applicants against the initial selection criteria of academic achievement. In the second stage of selections candidates are also considered on their leadership capabilities, ambassadorial potential and motivation to succeed in business in a socially responsible way.

The scholarships will cover 50% of the tuition fees for up to 16 units of study, pending normal degree duration.

Applicants applying for admission to the Business School in a Master’s degree are automatically considered for this award when meeting the initial selection criteria of:

  1. an Australian-equivalent average of at least 75% in a prior University  degree awarded and;
  2. a successful admission offer to one of the eligible degrees listed below:
    (No scholarship application is required during initial selections as students are first assessed on their admission application).

    Master of Professional Accounting
    Master of Human Resource Management and Industrial Relations
    Master of International Business

After the initial selections are completed a short-list of candidates is drawn up and staff from the Business School will invite successful candidates to apply for the Business Leader Postgraduate Scholarship.

Please Note : All admission applicants who are successful in the initial selections for this scholarship will be contacted by the Business School via email and invited to submit an application for the scholarship. There is no course of action required by interested persons to be short-listed.

CEMS Exchange Travel Scholarships

The University of Sydney Business School is pleased to offer financial assistance to Master of Management (CEMS) students participating on exchange to a recognised CEMS Partner University.

The scholarships valued at $2000 will be offered to students participating on exchange for their first semester on exchange as part of the Master of Management (CEMS) degree. Up to 5 scholarships are available each year. Two scholarships will be offered in semester 1 and two scholarships will be offered in semester 2. Depending on the calibre of the eligible group, scholarship places may vary. An additional place may be offered at the Program Director's discretion.

No application is necessary. Students will be assessed automatically based on academic merit determined by their Weighted Average Mark in the first semester of their Master of Management (CEMS) degree.

Endeavour Award Postgraduate Top-Up Scholarship

The Business School's 'Endeavour Award Postgraduate Top-Up Scholarship' is intended to support international students committed to studying at the University of Sydney Business School and the internationalisation of the higher education sector.

The University of Sydney Business School is now offering 'The Endeavour Award Postgraduate Top-Up Scholarship' to international students who have recently been awarded an Australian Government 'Endeavour Postgraduate Scholarship' and will be commencing a Masters level by coursework at the University of Sydney Business School.

This scholarship covers the balance of tuition fees owing after the Australian Government's Endeavour funding has been applied to the student's University tuition.

Endeavour Postgraduate Scholarship Recipients will have the balance of their tuition fees covered by the University of Sydney Business School.

Master of Management Scholarship

The scholarship was established in 2009 in conjunction with the introduction of the Master of Management. The Master of Management is designed specifically for high performing students who have recently finished an undergraduate degree and combines leading edge business and management content with high levels of corporate engagement.

The Master of Management is part of the CEMS Masters in International Management (CEMS MIM) program. CEMS is a strategic alliance of leading international business schools and multinational companies.

The scholarship covers half the tuition fees for the award courses, Master of Management or Master of Management (CEMS).

Up to four scholarships are available each year, two scholarship may be awarded each semester.

There is no separate application process for this scholarship. Instead, students will be short-listed for the scholarship through interviews conducted for entry to the degree and a recommendation will be made by the Admissions Committee to the Business School Executive Committee for final award.

University of Sydney Business School and Sydney Uni Sport & Fitness Scholarships - Postgraduate

Awarded to elite Sydney University athletes enrolled in postgraduate studies with the University of Sydney Business School, these scholarships recognise the outstanding achievements, as well as the unique requirements of individuals pursuing excellence in their sport and tertiary studies concurrently.

Up to 10 scholarships will be offered by the University of Sydney Business School in conjunction with Sydney Uni Sport & Fitness in 2017. Alongside membership of the Elite Athlete Program, which provides elite and talented Sydney University athletes with a range of benefits and services to assist them with both balancing and excelling in their sport and tertiary studies; each of these joint scholarships provides financial assistance for the relief of tuition fees, up to a maximum of four units of study annually.

The Anstice MBA Scholarship for Community Leadership

Established from a generous donation from prominent alumnus, David Anstice, the scholarship titled ‘The Anstice MBA Scholarship for Community Leadership ’ is offering support to emerging business leaders from the Not-for-Profit sector, including charities and NGO’s operating in Australia or internationally. The scholarship will offer financial assistance to a total value of $70,000.

Preference will be given to those applicants currently working in the Not-for-Profit sector, especially charities. Criteria used in the selection include academic merit, career achievements and evidence of on-going commitment to the sector.

University of Sydney Staff: Professional Leadership Development Scholarship (Master of Management)

The Scholarship is open to University of Sydney employees in a professional role who meet the selection criteria for the program.

Up to two scholarships are available and will cover full tuition fees for the standard duration of the Master of Management program.

Applicants are required to complete the online application form, submit a one-page statement of motivation, a curriculum vitae and a copy of their academic transcript. In addition, applicants should submit a further one-page statement addressing the scholarship selection criteria. Scholarship selection criteria include leadership potential, problem-solving acuity, ability to work in a diverse group and international orientation. This should be submitted via email in MS Word or PDF format, with the applicant's full name in the filename to lance.graham@sydney.edu.au.

All applications will be assessed by a scholarship assessment committee appointed by the Provost. This committee will shortlist a maximum of three applicants who will then be required to attend an interview with the Master of Management selection committee to confirm their eligibility for the program.

University of Sydney Staff: Professional Leadership Development Scholarship (Executive MBA)

The Scholarship is open to University of Sydney employees in senior Professional or Academic leadership roles who meet the selection criteria for the program.

One scholarship is available and will cover all program tuition fees. Applicants must secure full release for attendance on all residential modules, and cover their own return airfares to and from each host city as well as residential costs (accommodation, meals and group transportation) as organised by the University.

All applications will initially be assessed by the Global Executive MBA selection committee. This committee will shortlist a maximum of three applicants who will then be required to attend an interview with the Global Executive MBA selection committee to confirm their eligibility for the program.

Those applicants deemed eligible for the program by the Global Executive MBA selection committee will be invited to be interviewed by the Provost’s Scholarship Selection Committee. This committee will determine the person to whom the scholarship will be offered.

Shortlisted applicants need to be available for an in-person 45 minute program eligibility interview to be conducted between Thursday 10 November and Friday 18 November, and a final interview with the Provost’s Scholarship Selection Committee on Tuesday 22 November between 1pm and 4pm.

Women Leading in Business Executive MBA Scholarship

The Indigenous Australians Leading in Business Global Executive MBA Scholarship has been established with the goal of accelerating the rate at which Indigenous Australians move into senior leadership roles within all forms of Australian enterprises.

The Indigenous Australians Leading in Business Global Executive MBA Scholarship is open to all domestic students who successfully gain entry to the Global Executive MBA. Applicants for the scholarship should be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, identify as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person, and be accepted as such by the community in which they live, or formerly lived.

Dean's Scholarship for Remote and Rural Enterprise

The University of Sydney Business School is offering up to 10 Strategic Exchange Partner Scholarships to students participating in the University of Sydney Winter Session Exchange Program in 2016.

The Strategic Exchange Partner Scholarships are offered to local and international, undergraduate and postgraduate students based on academic progression (Weighted Average Mark) in their currently enrolled Business School Coursework Program and  participating on an approved exchange to a Business School strategic destination.

In Winter Session 2016: Eligible strategic partners are listed for destinations in Asia.

Participating students are required to meet degree requirements for their undergraduate or postgraduate award course during their exchange study session and the usual regulations that apply to the exchange program.

The Strategic Exchange Partner Scholarships are valued at $2000 each. No application is required.

University of Sydney Business School Student Exchange Travel Scholarships 2016

The University of Sydney Business School is offering up to 50 scholarships to students participating in the University of Sydney Exchange Program in 2016.

The Travel Scholarships are offered to local and international, undergraduate and postgraduate students enrolled with the University of Sydney Business School in one of the School's administered coursework programs and intending to study overseas through the University of Sydney exchange program.

Students should also be enrolled full-time and meeting degree requirements of their undergraduate or postgraduate award course during their exchange session. Students are required to meet the usual regulations that apply to the exchange program through the Exchange Unit, International Student Office.

The Student Exchange Travel Scholarships are valued at $2000 each. Up to 50 scholarships are available in 2016. Selection is based in academic merit (weighted average mark in coursework program). No application is required.

CFA Program Partner Awareness Scholarships (CFA Institute & Discipline of Finance)

The Finance Discipline has ten CFA Awareness Scholarships available to be awarded each year. These scholarships reduce the enrolment and examination fee payable to the CFA. Students can take CFA examinations either in December, or in June, each year. Five scholarships will normally be awarded for the June examinations and five for the December examinations. The application dates for the scholarships differ depending on whether you are planning to take the June or December examinations.

Students taking the finance major in the BCom, or the finance specialisation in the MCom, may apply for the scholarships. In order to be eligible for the scholarship you must either already hold a bachelor degree, or be in the last year of your bachelor degree. You should also have a distinction average mark (75). However, in the event that the number of applicants is five or less for either exam we will consider applications down to an average mark of 70.

Details of the CFA scholarship scheme, an application form and the entrance requirements to the CFA program can be found on the CFA website. To obtain details of the scholarships look under the Programs heading on the CFA website.

Submission requirements and deadlines

The dates by which the CFA require scholarship applications to be submitted can be found on the CFA web-site. Usually this is early in the year for the June examinations and just after mid-year for the December examinations. The Finance Discipline has to select the successful applicants and the application forms have to be signed by the Finance Discipline’s CFA program Director before they are submitted to the CFA. You therefore need to submit your CFA scholarship application in person to the Finance Discipline Office no EARLIER than eight weeks before the closing date and no LATER than two weeks before the closing date.

When submitting your CFA application form to the Finance Discipline you should attach your academic transcript and a coversheet which contains the following information:

  • Full Name
  • Email address
  • Contact Telephone number
  • Student ID Number
  • Degree program
  • Expected completion date for your degree

Applications will be assessed on the basis of academic merit.

Westbrook and Jessie Anstice International Travel Scholarship

The Westbrook and Jessie Anstice International Travel Scholarship was established in 2009 by a joint donation from alumnus David Anstice and the University of Sydney Business School.

The Scholarship is valued at $5,000 to assist with travel expenses to an overseas seminar or conference to encourage students to advance learning of their own initiative in the areas of international business, innovation or entrepreneurship.

The scholarship is open to international and local, undergraduate coursework, undergraduate honours and postgraduate coursework students enrolled in a full time coursework program with the University of Sydney Business School at the time of the seminar or conference participation.

All applications will initially be assessed by the Global Executive MBA selection committee. This committee will shortlist a maximum of three applicants who will then be required to attend an interview with the Global Executive MBA selection committee to confirm their eligibility for the program.

Those applicants deemed eligible for the program by the Global Executive MBA selection committee will be invited to be interviewed by the Provost’s Scholarship Selection Committee. This committee will determine the person to whom the scholarship will be offered.

Shortlisted applicants need to be available for an in-person 45 minute program eligibility interview to be conducted between Thursday 10 November and Friday 18 November, and a final interview with the Provost’s Scholarship Selection Committee on Tuesday 22 November between 1pm and 4pm.

The University of Sydney Business School is offering up to ten scholarships each semester for local and international students admitted to one of the eligible single Master’s postgraduate coursework programs listed below. The scholarships are awarded on merit to the most outstanding applicants against the initial selection criteria of academic achievement. In the second stage of selections candidates are also considered on their leadership capabilities, ambassadorial potential and motivation to succeed in business in a socially responsible way.

The scholarships will cover 50% of the tuition fees for up to 16 units of study, pending normal degree duration.

The scholarship was established in 2009 in conjunction with the introduction of the Master of Management. The Master of Management is designed specifically for high performing students who have recently finished an undergraduate degree and combines leading edge business and management content with high levels of corporate engagement.

The Master of Management is part of the CEMS Masters in International Management (CEMS MIM) program. CEMS is a strategic alliance of leading international business schools and multinational companies.

The scholarship covers half the tuition fees for the award courses, Master of Management or Master of Management (CEMS).

Up to four scholarships are available each year, two scholarship may be awarded each semester.

There is no separate application process for this scholarship. Instead, students will be short-listed for the scholarship through interviews conducted for entry to the degree and a recommendation will be made by the Admissions Committee to the Business School Executive Committee for final award.

The Scholarship is open to University of Sydney employees in a professional role who meet the selection criteria for the program.

Up to two scholarships are available and will cover full tuition fees for the standard duration of the Master of Management program.

Applicants are required to complete the online application form, submit a one-page statement of motivation, a curriculum vitae and a copy of their academic transcript. In addition, applicants should submit a further one-page statement addressing the scholarship selection criteria. Scholarship selection criteria include leadership potential, problem-solving acuity, ability to work in a diverse group and international orientation. CEMS Exchange Travel Scholarships

The University of Sydney Business School is pleased to offer financial assistance to Master of Management (CEMS) students participating on exchange to a recognised CEMS Partner University.

The scholarships valued at $2000 will be offered to students participating on exchange for their first semester on exchange as part of the Master of Management (CEMS) degree. Up to 5 scholarships are available each year. Two scholarships will be offered in semester 1 and two scholarships will be offered in semester 2. Depending on the calibre of the eligible group, scholarship places may vary. An additional place may be offered at the Program Director's discretion.

No application is necessary. Students will be assessed automatically based on academic merit determined by their Weighted Average Mark in the first semester of their Master of Management (CEMS) degree.

CFA Program Partner Awareness Scholarships (CFA Institute & Discipline of Finance)

The Finance Discipline has ten CFA Awareness Scholarships available to be awarded each year. These scholarships reduce the enrolment and examination fee payable to the CFA. Students can take CFA examinations either in December, or in June, each year. Five scholarships will normally be awarded for the June examinations and five for the December examinations. The application dates for the scholarships differ depending on whether you are planning to take the June or December examinations.

Students taking the finance major in the BCom, or the finance specialisation in the MCom, may apply for the scholarships. In order to be eligible for the scholarship you must either already hold a bachelor degree, or be in the last year of your bachelor degree. You should also have a distinction average mark (75). However, in the event that the number of applicants is five or less for either exam we will consider applications down to an average mark of 70.

Submission requirements and deadlines

The dates by which the CFA require scholarship applications to be submitted can be found on the CFA web-site. Usually this is early in the year for the June examinations and just after mid-year for the December examinations. The Finance Discipline has to select the successful applicants and the application forms have to be signed by the Finance Discipline’s CFA program Director before they are submitted to the CFA. You therefore need to submit your CFA scholarship application in person to the Finance Discipline Office no EARLIER than eight weeks before the closing date and no LATER than two weeks before the closing date.

When submitting your CFA application form to the Finance Discipline you should attach your academic transcript and a coversheet which contains the following information:

  • Full Name
  • Email address
  • Contact Telephone number
  • Student ID Number
  • Degree program
  • Expected completion date for your degree

Applications will be assessed on the basis of academic merit.

The University of Sydney Business School is offering up to 10 Strategic Exchange Partner Scholarships to students participating in the University of Sydney Winter Session Exchange Program in 2016.

The Strategic Exchange Partner Scholarships are offered to local and international, undergraduate and postgraduate students based on academic progression (Weighted Average Mark) in their currently enrolled Business School Coursework Program and  participating on an approved exchange to a Business School strategic destination.

In Winter Session 2016: Eligible strategic partners are listed for destinations in Asia.

Participating students are required to meet degree requirements for their undergraduate or postgraduate award course during their exchange study session and the usual regulations that apply to the exchange program.

University of Sydney Business School Student Exchange Travel Scholarships 2016

The University of Sydney Business School is offering up to 50 scholarships to students participating in the University of Sydney Exchange Program in 2016.

The Travel Scholarships are offered to local and international, undergraduate and postgraduate students enrolled with the University of Sydney Business School in one of the School's administered coursework programs and intending to study overseas through the University of Sydney exchange program.

Students should also be enrolled full-time and meeting degree requirements of their undergraduate or postgraduate award course during their exchange session. Students are required to meet the usual regulations that apply to the exchange program through the Exchange Unit, International Student Office.

The Student Exchange Travel Scholarships are valued at $2000 each. Up to 50 scholarships are available in 2016. Selection is based in academic merit (weighted average mark in coursework program). No application is required.

University of Sydney Staff: Professional Leadership Development Scholarship (Executive MBA)

The Scholarship is open to University of Sydney employees in senior Professional or Academic leadership roles who meet the selection criteria for the program.

One scholarship is available and will cover all program tuition fees. Applicants must secure full release for attendance on all residential modules, and cover their own return airfares to and from each host city as well as residential costs (accommodation, meals and group transportation) as organised by the University.

All applications will initially be assessed by the Global Executive MBA selection committee. This committee will shortlist a maximum of three applicants who will then be required to attend an interview with the Global Executive MBA selection committee to confirm their eligibility for the program.

Those applicants deemed eligible for the program by the Global Executive MBA selection committee will be invited to be interviewed by the Provost’s Scholarship Selection Committee. This committee will determine the person to whom the scholarship will be offered.

Shortlisted applicants need to be available for an in-person 45 minute program eligibility interview to be conducted between Thursday 10 November and Friday 18 November, and a final interview with the Provost’s Scholarship Selection Committee on Tuesday 22 November between 1pm and 4pm.

University of Sydney Staff: Professional Leadership Development Scholarship (Master of Business Administration)

The Professional Leadership Development Scholarship is a Business School funded initiative established to provide a professional development opportunity to administrative staff and to enhance the capability of the University to achieve its strategic purpose.

The Scholarship is open to University of Sydney employees in Professional or Academic leadership roles who meet the selection criteria for the program.

One scholarship is available and will cover full tuition fees for the standard duration of the Master of Business Administration program.

University of Sydney Staff: Professional Leadership Development Scholarship (Master of Management)

The Scholarship is open to University of Sydney employees in a professional role who meet the selection criteria for the program.

Up to two scholarships are available and will cover full tuition fees for the standard duration of the Master of Management program.

Applicants are required to complete the online application form, submit a one-page statement of motivation, a curriculum vitae and a copy of their academic transcript. In addition, applicants should submit a further one-page statement addressing the scholarship selection criteria. Scholarship selection criteria include leadership potential, problem-solving acuity, ability to work in a diverse group and international orientation. This should be submitted via email in MS Word or PDF format, with the applicant's full name in the filename to lance.graham@sydney.edu.au.

All applications will be assessed by a scholarship assessment committee appointed by the Provost. This committee will shortlist a maximum of three applicants who will then be required to attend an interview with the Master of Management selection committee to confirm their eligibility for the program.

Applications are now open for semester 2, 2016 and close Tuesday 5th July.

Westbrook and Jessie Anstice International Travel Scholarship

The Westbrook and Jessie Anstice International Travel Scholarship was established in 2009 by a joint donation from alumnus David Anstice and the University of Sydney Business School.

The Scholarship is valued at $5,000 to assist with travel expenses to an overseas seminar or conference to encourage students to advance learning of their own initiative in the areas of international business, innovation or entrepreneurship.

The scholarship is open to international and local, undergraduate coursework, undergraduate honours and postgraduate coursework students enrolled in a full time coursework program with the University of Sydney Business School at the time of the seminar or conference participation.

Women Leading in Business Executive MBA Scholarship

The University of Sydney Business School is committed to addressing the under-representation of women in senior leadership roles.

The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) gender indicator figures released in August 2015 reveal that men continue to hold the majority of Australia’s top leadership positions. This includes senior positions within corporate Australia, the judiciary, federal and state parliamentarians, and managers in the Australian Public Service.

To help address this under-representation and to accelerate progress toward gender equality The University of Sydney Business School is offering one scholarship annually to a woman undertaking the Global Executive MBA.

Through the Global Executive MBA program, The University of Sydney Business School fosters the advancement of women’s education by developing the skill sets needed to take up senior leadership roles in competitive business environments.
