Postgraduate Coursework Scholarships

The University of Sydney Business School continues to produce outstanding graduates who take up leading positions in business, government, academia and the not-for-profit sector. The range of Business School scholarships we offer reflects our strong links with industry and the corporate sector, as well as our commitment to students. A scholarship from The University of Sydney is more than just financial assistance. It is recognition of an individual's talent and hard work and can be an integral step towards a fulfilling career.

Many of the Business School scholarships are enhanced by links with sponsorship partners in the business, alumni and wider University communities. Other scholarships are sponsored by individuals, corporations and valued members of our alumni network.



The University of Sydney Business School Business Leader Postgraduate Scholarship

The University of Sydney Business School is offering up to twenty scholarships for local and international students undertaking one of the eligible single Masters postgraduate coursework programs offered in semester 1, 2015. The scholarships are awarded on merit to the most outstanding applicants against the following selection criteria of academic achievement, leadership capabilities, ambassadorial potential and motivation to succeed in business in a socially responsible way. The scholarships will cover 50% of the tuition fees for up to 16 units of study, pending normal degree duration.

Only candidates that are expected to commence study in one of the following degrees in semester 1, 2015 may apply for the Business Leader Postgraduate Scholarship.

Endeavour Award Postgraduate Top-Up Scholarship

The Business School's 'Endeavour Award Postgraduate Top-Up Scholarship' is intended to support international students committed to studying at the University of Sydney Business School and the internationalisation of the higher education sector.

The University of Sydney Business School is now offering 'The Endeavour Award Postgraduate Top-Up Scholarship' to international students who have recently been awarded an Australian Government 'Endeavour Postgraduate Scholarship' and will be commencing a Masters level by coursework at the University of Sydney Business School.

This scholarship covers the balance of tuition fees owing after the Australian Government's Endeavour funding has been applied to the student's University tuition.

Endeavour Postgraduate Scholarship Recipients will have the balance of their tuition fees covered by the University of Sydney Business School.

BOSS Emerging Leaders MBA Scholarship

We have partnered with Financial Review BOSS Magazine to celebrate the emergence of the next generation of corporate and community leaders. In 2015, we will search for the best young business talent with a prize package that includes a $60,000 Emerging Leaders MBA scholarship for one student to complete their degree.

UN Women National Committee Australia MBA Scholarship

In support of the UN Women National Committee Australia and our united goal to further women's education, we are pleased to offer the UN Women National Committee Australia MBA Scholarship.

This scholarship is open to all women (with Australian citizenship, Australian residency or New Zealand citizenship) who are eligible to apply for the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program at the Business School. The scholarship covers full tuition fees for the MBA for a maximum of three years' part-time study.

Applicants are required to complete an online application form and submit a statement demonstrating leadership experience and potential in her chosen field; a commitment to enhancing women's leadership; an interest in international relations, gender and development; and a passion for using your business skills to drive social change. Applications will be assessed by the Business School MBA Scholarship Committee, which includes the Executive Director of the UN Women National Committee Australia. Shortlisted applicants will be required to write an opinion piece on a topic related to gender and development issues. A shortlist of applicants will be invited to an interview.

The Anstice MBA Scholarship for Community Leadership

Established from a generous donation from prominent alumnus, David Anstice, the scholarship is intended to promote academic excellence and support emerging leaders from the not-for-profit sector undertaking the MBA program. The scholarship will offer financial assistance to a total value of $30,000. Criteria used in selection include academic merit, career achievements and evidence of ongoing commitment to sector.

No separate application is required for this scholarship. Candidates are considered on their admission application for this award.

Master of Management Scholarship

The scholarship was established in 2009 in conjunction with the introduction of the Master of Management. The Master of Management is designed specifically for high performing students who have recently finished an undergraduate degree and combines leading edge business and management content with high levels of corporate engagement.

The Master of Management is part of the CEMS Master of International Management program, a strategic alliance of leading international business schools and multinational companies.

The scholarship covers tuition fees for up to ten units of study and is tenable for one full year.

Up to two scholarships are available each year, one scholarship may be awarded each semester. The scholarships may also be awarded as shared.

There is no separate application process for this scholarship. Instead, students will be short-listed for the scholarship through interviews conducted for entry to the degree and a recommendation will be made by the Admissions Committee to the Business School Executive Committee for final award.

CEMS Exchange Travel Scholarships

The University of Sydney Business School is pleased to offer financial assistance to Master of Management (CEMS) students participating on exchange to a recognised CEMS Partner University.

The scholarships valued at $2000 will be offered to students participating on exchange for their first semester on exchange as part of the Master of Management (CEMS) degree. Up to 5 scholarships are available each year. Two scholarships will be offered in semester 1 and two scholarships will be offered in semester 2. Depending on the calibre of the eligible group, scholarship places may vary. An additional place may be offered at the Program Director's discretion.

No application is necessary. Students will be assessed automatically based on academic merit determined by their Weighted Average Mark in the first semester of their Master of Management (CEMS) degree.

Global Executive MBA

Excellence in Leadership Scholarship

The scholarship was established in 2009 in conjunction with the launch of the Global Executive MBA. The Global Executive MBA is an innovative degree designed specifically for experienced high performing managers to gain a strong competitive advantage in today's global marketplace.

The scholarship is valued at half the total degree tuition fees. One scholarship is available for award each year to the most outstanding candidate against the degree admission criteria.

No separate application is required for the scholarship as students are considered on their admission application for this award.

Alumni Scholarship for Excellence in Not-for-Profit Leadership

The scholarship was established in 2009 in conjunction with the launch of the Global Executive MBA. The scholarship is funded from the generous donations of University of Sydney Alumni together with the University of Sydney Business School.

The Alumni Scholarship is intended to promote academic excellence at the executive Leadership level of education within the Not for Profit sector. The scholarship is valued at $50,000 tenable over the 1.5 year span of the degree.

No separate application is required for the scholarship as students are considered on their admission application for this award.

University of Sydney Staff: Professional Leadership Development Scholarship (Master of Management)

The Scholarship is open to University of Sydney employees in a professional role who meet the selection criteria for the program.

Up to two scholarships are available and will cover full tuition fees for the standard duration of the Master of Management program.

Applicants are required to complete the online application form, submit a one-page statement of motivation, a curriculum vitae and a copy of their academic transcript. In addition, applicants should submit a further one-page statement addressing the scholarship selection criteria. Scholarship selection criteria include leadership potential, problem-solving acuity, ability to work in a diverse group and international orientation. This should be submitted via email in MS Word or PDF format, with the applicant's full name in the filename to lance.graham@sydney.edu.au.

All applications will be assessed by a scholarship assessment committee appointed by the Provost. This committee will shortlist a maximum of three applicants who will then be required to attend an interview with the Master of Management selection committee to confirm their eligibility for the program. Program interviews will take place from Monday December 16th 2013 - Tuesday December 17th 2013 and Thursday January 2nd 2014 - Friday January 10th 2014. Those applicants deemed eligible will be invited to attend an interview by the Provost's appointed scholarship assessment committee which will be conducted from Monday January 13th 2014 - Friday January 17th 2014. Applicants should ensure that they are available for interview during these periods.

University of Sydney Staff: Professional Leadership Development Scholarship (Global Executive MBA)

The Scholarship is open to University of Sydney employees in senior Professional or Academic leadership roles who meet the selection criteria for the program.

One scholarship is available and will cover all program fees. Applicants must secure full release for attendance on all residential modules, and cover their own return airfares to and from each host city as well as residential costs (accommodation, meals and group transport) as organised by the University.

Applicants are required to complete the online application form, submit a one-page statement of motivation, a curriculum vitae and a copy of their academic transcript. In addition, applicants should submit a further one-page statement addressing the scholarship selection criteria. Scholarship selection criteria include leadership experience and potential, problem-solving acuity, ability to work in a diverse group and international orientation. This should be submitted via email in MS Word or PDF format, with the applicant's full name in the filename to business.globalemba@sydney.edu.au

Joint Australian Indigenous Scholarships

In partnership with Wesley College, the Women’s College, St Andrew’s College and Sancta Sophia College we offer up to two Indigenous Australian Scholarships each year to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students studying at the Business School and living at one of the colleges. The scholarship covers a joint grant of $6000 with the Women’s College and Sancta Sophia College, and residential at Wesley College and St Andrew's College (accommodation and meals). If the recipient is already receiving assistance with residential fees through ABSTUDY, the scholarship may be taken as a grant of $6000 per annum towards living expenses.
