We Listen: Responding to Student feedback
The University of Sydney Business School Peer Mentoring Program is carefully designed and well run. It provides positive influences for newer students who may need a little extra attention or who don't have a good support network available to them as well as opportunities for all new students to make new friends and extend their networks. The Peer Mentoring Program greatly values student feedback. We have taken your recent suggestions for change, and are looking to implement these fantastic ideas into our program.
We welcome your comments and feedback at any time.
Of the students who responded to recent surveys
- 100% of undergraduate Mentors reported that they would recommend being a mentor to other students
- 94% of undergraduate respondents recommend the program to others
- 100% postgraduate mentors recommend to others to become a mentor
- 90% of postgraduate respondents recommend the program to other students
Suggestions
In addition to the high levels of student satisfaction, students have also made some suggestions for change. Some of that feedback is difficult to respond to because respondents asked for conflicting changes such as:
- a longer UG/ PG program v shorter UG/PG program
- more social events v less social events
- more meetings v less meetings
Ideas that we were able to respond to
- Social events on a different day of the week to suit their timetable
We have now scheduled social events and gatherings at different times and different days; including Tuesday and Wednesday to better suit student's conflicting timetables. - More interlinking events with the Careers Office
The Mentoring Program and the Careers Office will be working closely together to implement valuable events that will satisfy the needs of new students whom wish to have career opportunity information. - Implement more activities
Activities such as the photo scavenger hunt will be implemented to allow students more stimulation to solidify new friendships formed. - More promotion for those students who arrive late
We have volunteers to assist in the registration for late enrolling students. We also provide information for staff at the Business School Student Information Office (SIO) and the International Student Services Unit (ISSU) daily arrival sessions who distribute the relevant information to late arriving students.
