Advocacy in the Tribunals 2014
13th Aug 2014 5:30pm - 15th Oct 2014 8:00pm
This long-established course, coordinated by the Workplace Research Centre is suitable to aspiring industrial advocates from workplaces, employer or union backgrounds.
The Advocacy in the Tribunals Course aims to teach participants how to plan successful appearances and to develop quality advocacy skills. It is predominantly a skills-based course, providing participants with the opportunity to experience real life situations and better build on their skills in presenting in Tribunals. As part of the course, attendees will prepare and appear before stimulated moots in front of the Commissioners of the Fair Work Commission. Attendees will also have an opportunity to conduct examination and cross-examination in front of practising barristers. This course is not suitable for people wanting to just sit and listen.
Some prior industrial practice is an essential prerequisite, while some experience as an advocate or preparing cases is advised. To ensure a balanced mix of participants no more than two should register from any single organisation.
