The Cancer Research Network Symposium will give University of Sydney postgraduate cancer research students, from all disciplines, the opportunity to present their research, share and discuss work within the student community and to network with colleagues.

FORMAT

The program will be divided into two concurrent streams and oral presentations will be given by students in one of the following sessions:

  • Drug development and targets
  • Clinical and psychosocial cancer research
  • Breast and prostate cancer
  • Genetics and proteins
  • Tumour microenvironment and molecular biology
  • Cancer therapeutics

CALL FOR ABSTRACTS AND SELECTION (CLOSED)

There has been a tremendous response from the student research community and the Symposium organising committee would like to thank all researchers who submitted an abstract for consideration for the program. Abstract submission closed on 12 October 2010.

Abstracts are currently being reviewed by a committee and will be selected on a competitive basis. Submissions will be judged on originality, technical strength, significance, quality of research, and interest and relevance to the meeting delegates. Poster presentations will be awarded to people not accepted for an oral presentation. All nano-posters must be one A3 sheet of paper only and illustrate at least one key aspect of your research.

Students will be notified of the outcome of their abstract submission by 2 November 2010.

THE UNIVERSITY OF SYDNEY CANCER RESEARCH NETWORK STUDENT AWARDS (VALUED AT $50 EACH)

To be awarded to the most outstanding student presenter within each of the following sessions:

  • Drug development and targets
  • Clinical and psychosocial cancer research
  • Breast and prostate cancer
  • Genetics and proteins
  • Tumour microenvironment and molecular biology
  • Cancer therapeutics


The six recipients of these awards will receive $50 each. This prize money must be used for the recipient’s continued cancer research or to fund travel to a cancer-related conference.

The Awards Ceremony will take place at the conclusion of the meeting.

IMPORTANT DATES

  • 10 September 2010: Abstract submission & registration opens
  • 12 October 2010: Abstract submission closes
  • 2 November 2010: Notification of abstract acceptance
  • 26 November 2010: Registration closes
  • 3 December 2010: Symposium
