Faculty of Veterinary Science

Vetinerary Science

Overview

While many veterinary science graduates work as vets in private practices or in zoos, there is a range of alternative careers open to graduates. Graduates find employment in government services in livestock disease control, diagnostic service work, disease research, animal export/import or quarantine, in research, higher education, industry, or in wildlife conservation departments or zoos. Emerging areas of employment are in genetic technologies, animal welfare, urban animal management, food safety and collaborating in monitoring and control of zoonotic disease i.e. infectious disease transmitted from non-human animals to humans.
