Graduate Recruitment in the Public Service
Many departments in both the NSW and Australian government run graduate programs. To see which agencies are currently recruiting for their graduate programs go to apsjobs.gov.au and select 'Graduate' as the APS Classification. You can search for other opportunities on the APS jobs page, see below for more details.
The website jobs.nsw.gov.au lists the NSW Government departments that are recruiting graduates this year.

You might also consider applying for a regular entry level position in the Public Service (usually an APS level 3,4 or 5). To see the full list of Public Service positions go to jobsearch.gov.au or apsjobs.gov.au.

The Australian Public Service Commission has information and fact sheets available on 'Cracking the Code: How to apply for jobs in the Australian Public Service'. This guide can help applicants in writing their applications, including addressing the selection criteria. Further information is available at apsc.gov.au.
Dr Ann Villiers has written a great book "How to Write and Talk to Selection Criteria" (published by Mental Nutrition, 2005) which has a chapter dedicated to writing for APS positions. A copy of this is available for students to read at the Careers Resource Centre.
The 'Selection Criteria' website has more information such as writing applications, working for the APS and living/working in Canberra. Visit selectioncriteria.com.au to read more.
