UBS Culture
UBS is a firm where you can expect to be challenged long after university. As a global business, we offer abundant opportunities to develop your talent – and be recognised and rewarded for it. In addition to gaining hands-on experience as part of a smart, driven team, you’ll benefit from continued education allowing you to shape the career you’re looking for. Whether it’s acquiring the technical knowledge to create the products of the future or developing the skills to be one of our future leaders, you will always be encouraged to make the most of your talents.
What sets UBS apart from other financial firms is the way we do business. We believe that we are only as successful as our relationships – both with our clients and with each other. This approach makes our people wonderful to work with and our firm the choice of clients the world wide.
Graduates from all backgrounds are employed at UBS – indeed, we’re more interested in the broad intellectual skills you’ve developed at university than your expertise in a particular subject. Because we place so much value on building solid relationships, we also look for qualities such as honesty, integrity, straightforwardness and a desire to achieve extraordinary outcomes as a team.
Who we are looking for
UBS recruits interns and graduates from all academic backgrounds – the humanities and sciences, as well as economics and finance. For UBS, a degree is less important than a graduate’s ability to problem solve, plan ahead, make decisions, demonstrate sound judgement, and communicate with others. In addition, UBS seeks graduates that are ambitious, show integrity, have a commitment to accuracy, and a desire to work as part of a friendly but driven team.
Graduate program
The UBS Graduate Training Program is a learning journey. All our graduate trainees enter intensive, industry-leading training programs at the start of their careers with us to help build business specific proficiencies and firm-wide knowledge. Comprehensive business education is offered through function-specific 'learning pathways' - a structured set of activities that help ensure consistent training across similar jobs world-wide.
Our graduate programs provide various cross-divisional and specialist perspectives and focus on specific business skills as well as professional development. You will also learn more about our global organization and business strategy, our core values and the high standards we aspire to.
We give our graduate trainees opportunities to grow professionally and personally and to build the strong, long-term relationships that are central to our business success. This program prepares you for a successful career at UBS and for the many development opportunities which will lie ahead of you at our firm.
Summer internship program
Our 9 week structured summer internship program runs from November to February each year. At UBS, our interns work alongside some of the brightest and best people, learning about our organization, a specific business division, our clients and the products & services we offer. Throughout their internship, events are run to ensure the experience is complemented with learning, training and networking opportunities. The program provides interns with challenging tasks and responsibilities where their contributions can make a difference. Overall the internship is aimed at providing students with a broad experience that will allow them to demonstrate their skills, learn about the UBS culture and most importantly explore a potential career.
