Janice Hirshorn


Janice is part of the University’s Office of General Counsel. She advises on legal matters relating to the University’s Research Portfolio and particularly in relation to the protection, management and commercialisation of the University’s intellectual property and the University’s research activities.

Prior to joining the University of Sydney, Janice worked for two large corporate law firms in the areas of commercial and intellectual property law.

Janice brings a very wide-range of expertise to her role, having initially worked in research for several years after gaining a Biochemistry Honours degree and PhD in Medicine. Later, Janice joined the pharmaceutical industry and Australian Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (now known as Medicines Australia), where she worked for 15 years in areas including regulation, policy and strategy and represented the pharmaceutical and health industry on many government committees.
