Who is this course for?

This course is designed specifically for English Language Teaching (ELT) Professionals and is suitable for:

  • current EAP teachers
  • General English and Test Preparation teachers looking to move into the world of EAP teaching
  • Academic Managers of EAP courses
  • CELTA (or equivalent) graduates.

Key benefits

This course provides you with the current theory and best practice in teaching academic English, using an interactive, workshop-based approach.

Throughout the course you will:

  • develop an understanding of the EAP context
  • build on existing TESOL knowledge and skills to inform the development of EAP specific skills
  • apply methodologies to facilitate the effective teaching of the four macro skills for an academic context
  • engage in reflective and critical practice in order to develop professionally.

This course carries 72 English Australia endorsed CPD points.

Course schedule

Workshops: 3 hours face-to-face per week. Fridays 9am-12pm.

The course is delivered at the Centre for English Teaching at the University of Sydney.

*A minimum of eight students is required for a course to be delivered.

Entry requirements

An initial TESOL qualification (eg CELTA).

Please note this course is not CRICOS registered and is not available for student visa applicants.
