The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) assesses the English language proficiency of people who want to study, work or immigrate to countries where English is used as the primary language of communication.
The IELTS venue at Sydney University Darlington Campus (USYD) has changed its operations. The Darlington Campus office will now be open only on Fridays and Mondays each week. On Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, enquiries for tests at Darlington and Lidcombe are now dealt with by the IELTS office at Macquarie University. On Tues-Thurs, for information, please call 02 9850 7267. All tests are still held at the Darlington and Lidcombe campuses.
Candidates can choose to take either the Academic or General Training version, which both assess the four language skills. The speaking test is conducted with an examiner and is given within one week of the other three tests.

The University of Sydney Centre for English Teaching (CET) is an authorised IELTS Test Centre and has two IELTS Test venues, Darlington/Camperdown campus or the Cumberland campus. IELTS testing at the University of Sydney is conducted by Macquarie University.
On Monday and Friday, the IELTS office at the University of Sydney is open at CET in the Wentworth Building (GO1) on the Darlington/Camperdown campus. In the Intensive Test Preparation (ITP) classes, you will learn exam-taking strategies, gain extensive exam practice using past papers, and develop your speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. The course length is 20 hours face-to-face and runs for a minimum of two weeks up to 50 weeks.
1:1 Coaching is a great option if you are looking for flexibility and to customise your exam preparation. An experienced CET English language teacher will provide intensive one-on-one, face-to-face training sessions for you.
IELTS online is a great option for convenience and can be completed at your own pace. Each course module contains useful IELTS test tips, online activities, detailed feedback and sample answers for IELTS test questions.
