Management and Governance

Operational management of the China Studies Centre is vested in the Director, who is both the Centre’s manager and its academic head. The Director is supported by an Executive Committee comprising the senior academic and senior administrative staff of the Centre. The Director reports to the Board of Management, which is responsible for the Centre’s strategic direction, and monitors and reports on its activities to the wider University. The board includes representatives of the principle University stakeholders – the Provost, faculties, deputy vice-chancellors and the Confucius Institute. Both the Board and the Director are advised by an Advisory Committee with expertise in Australia–China business and government relations.

The Centre has its own academic and administrative staff. All Centre academic staff are also attached to an academic unit elsewhere in the University.
