The Smith Family celebrates success of Sydney students
On Thursday, 25th February 2010, the Smith Family and the University of Sydney celebrated the remarkable achievements of graduating Year 12, Tertiary and TAFE Learning for Life students who have overcome significant challenges to benefit from education.

The Tertiary Awards provided us with a rare opportunity to truly bring to life the impact of the work The Smith Family does, and to recognise the sheer hard work and persistence that the students have needed to achieve graduation.
Over 50 graduating students from Sydney were joined by their families, mentors, and supporters as well as celebrity chef Matt Moran who provided inspiring words on the importance of supporting young people at this transition stage.
Of the students three year 12 graduates will be starting their studies at the University of Sydney this month, whilst one tertiary graduate, Kenny, has just graduated with a Bachelor in Psychology and would like to pursue a career in Education and Personal Development areas.
The Smith Family and the University of Sydney have been working together for over five years to provide valuable education and learning support to disadvantaged students at secondary and tertiary level, including activities to raise aspirations to attend higher education, as well as financial assistance for essential learning resources.
