Karyn Knowles

Karyn Knowles is the support teacher - learning assistance at Bexley Public School.
Karyn has worked as a primary school and ESL teacher with adults and children in Western Sydney, the Northern Territory, Japan, Ecuador and Vietnam.
She has a Graduate Diploma in TESOL (Teaching English as Second or Other Language) from UTS and a Postgraduate Certificate in Special Education (Learning Difficulties) from Macquarie University.
Through the Compass Program Karyn is now undertaking her Masters in Special Education at the University of Sydney’s Faculty of Education and Social Work.
Karyn’s extensive experience in language and literacy were of enormous benefit in the development of Compass’ core volunteer program – Word Up. Not only was Karyn able to champion the MULTILIT (Making Up for Lost Time in Literacy) reading tutor program, she also delivered 7 days of more than 50hrs of MULTILIT training to University of Sydney student volunteers and staff and teachers and parents from schools working with Compass.
Karyn’s commitment and dedication to the needs of young learners is obvious to everyone that knows and work with her. We feel incredibly fortunate to work with Karyn and would like to take this opportunity to thank Karyn for her ongoing commitment to Compass.
