Classroom Activity Facilitators

We are looking for dynamic communicators to show primary school students the possibilities of higher education. School students are less likely to consider higher education unless they have firsthand experience of a university campus. Compass provides a structured program for primary school students to visit the university and participate in activities in the classroom to build on their university experience.
As a Classroom Activity Facilitators volunteer, you will deliver an interactive presentation as part of this structured program. You will be paired with another volunteer for each workshop and present fun and engaging material to a primary school classroom. The presentations consolidate what students have learnt during their university visit, extend this knowledge and make links to higher education. Full training is provided to ensure you are familiar with the content (which can cover ancient history, performance studies or science) and that you can deliver presentations confidently.
Who should volunteer?
Join this volunteer program if you are:
- Passionate about higher education
- Comfortable with public speaking and presenting to a classroom of students aged 8 to 12
- Knowledgeable, or keen to learn more, about ancient history, performance studies or science
- Available to volunteer for at least 2 workshops during the semester
