Public lecture: Legacy of the Chinese Cultured Men

On 27 February, Dr. Richard Wu was invited by the Institute to present a public lecture on the heritage of the Chinese Wen Ren (Cultured Men) who over the last two thousand years have evolved a unique code of virtue, artistic principles, and led China's political cultural and social developments. More than 70 audiences attended the lecture.

Public lecture: Traditional Chinese Acupuncture and Well Being

On 24 February, the Institute presented a public lecture on Traditional Chinese Acupuncture and Well Being. Dr Lydia Zhou introduced the ancient philosophy and principles of Chinese acupuncture. Dr Zhou also gave an acupuncture demonstration. Around 70 audience attended the lecture. This program is part of City of Sydney’s Chinese New Year Festival.

On 19 February 2013, The Confucius Institute hosted a media conference for the Academy Award-Winning composer Tan Dun with local Chinese media. 8 media including Sing Tao Daily, Australian Chinese Daily, ABC Mandarin Program, SBS Chinese program, Xinhua News Agency and Sydneytoday.com.au attend Tan Dun media conference. Tan Dun will conduct two Martial Arts Trilogy concerts with Sydney Symphony at Sydney Opera House on 22 and 23 February.
