The University of Sydney Alumni Council is the peak alumni body of the University. It is legally constituted under the University of Sydney Act 1989 and represents all alumni.
The University has more than 40 alumni associations and chapters. The University of Sydney Alumni Council is committed to playing a major role in uniting these chapters, promoting their interests, enhancing and strengthening their work, and facilitating their engagement with the University.
This is encapsulated in the Alumni Council's purpose statement:
The purpose of the University of Sydney Alumni Council is to gain advantage for the University and its community by developing synergistic relationships by facilitating communication and coordination among alumni and their associations.
