Dr Andrew Lim BSc (Hons) Syd '95, PhD Berkely '00
Andrew Lim graduated from the University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry with First Class Honours and the University Medal. He went on to postgraduate study at the University of California at Berkeley, receiving a Ph.D. in Chemistry, while undertaking research in nanotechnology and its future commercial applications.
Andrew has recently returned to Australia after spending over a decade in the United States. While there, he worked extensively in the technology industry in San Francisco and Silicon Valley, in areas ranging from basic materials research to enterprise information technology to consumer applications such as video gaming and online media. He has substantial experience on the ground in Asia, gained while developing partnerships with large technology companies located there.
Andrew was a consultant at the Boston Consulting Group, where he was involved in projects in the healthcare industry and in digital content. Presently, he is working in the clean technology sector in Australia, advising firms on bridging the gap between fundamental science and its application to create new business models.
Andrew has chaired the Media, Communications and Technology group of Advance, a global professional organization for expatriate Australians. He has facilitated relationships between Australian corporate, academic and governmental entities and their overseas counterparts. He has also fostered communities of Australians with similar professional interests, in many cases drawing upon practices originally found in alumni relations and outreach programs.
