Honours is a fourth year of study during which you will conduct a research project and write a thesis under the supervision of one of the faculty's expert researchers.

Admission is competitive, and candidates who are offered a place in the honours year must have demonstrated consistent, high level performance throughout their studies, be eligible for the award of a pass degree at a commendable standard, and be judged to have the aptitude to conduct an independent research project.

Honours study will allow you to develop your research skills and make a significant contribution to the development of knowledge within the profession.

Typical workload and assessment

The honours year comprises 48 credit points (cp) of study in addition to the 144cp completed for the pass degree i.e., a total of 192cp. The year is made up of two parts of the honours thesis (24cp each). You will complete the thesis under the supervision of an academic staff member.

Honours awards and classes

The Bachelor of Applied Science (Exercise and Sport Science) Honours degree is awarded in classes ranging from First Class to Third Class according to the rules specified in the Resolutions of the Faculty of Health Sciences.

Admission requirements

Eligibility for the Honours Program is based on the Year 2 Semester 2 Weighted Average Mark (WAM) for both Domestic and International students and;

* currently enrolled in Bachelor of Applied Science (Exercise & Sports Science) pass program at the Faculty of Health Sciences
*Completed at least 144 credit points (or will complete by the end of the 3rd year)
