Graduate Certificate in Educational Studies (Health Professional Education)
The information on this page applies to future students. Current students should refer to their faculty handbooks for course information.
The Graduate Certificate in Educational Studies is available only part-time over one or two years. The course does not provide a recognised teaching qualification but is part of the broader postgraduate educational studies program. This designation aims to equip those who have educational responsibility in the health professions, with knowledge, skills and attitudes relevant to undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing education. You should consider the Graduate Certificate if you're seeking a shorter period of study than that required for the Master of Education degree.
The health professional education specialisation is offered as an education qualification available to all the health professions. It is a collaborative venture between the Faculty of Education and Social Work, Sydney Nursing School, the Faculty of Health Sciences, and Sydney Medical School. You will complete core units of study in scholarship and teaching, clinical teaching and supervision, teaching clinical reasoning, and simulation-based learning in health, and acquire the knowledge and skills to meet the changing global environment of health professional education.
Subject to meeting progression requirements in the graduate certificate, you may apply to transfer to the Graduate Diploma in Educational Studies or the Master of Education.
