The Graduate Certificate in Veterinary Public Health Management will provide you with the perfect learning environment if you're a busy professional based in a regional or rural centre in Australia, or if you're located overseas. This flexible course is delivered largely through distance education units of study, using online classrooms, with three short residential intensive blocks (three to five days in length) during the course. You will core units of study in veterinary epidemiology, disease control, animal health economics, policy development, and project management. The Graduate Certificate is part of an embedded program in veterinary public health management. Subject to meeting progression requirements, you may apply to transfer to the Graduate Diploma in Veterinary Public Health Management or the Master of Veterinary Public Health Management.

A candidate for the Graduate Certificate in Veterinary Public Health Management will satisfactorily complete units of study granting 24 credit points by a combination of online distance units and two short (three to five days in length) residential sessions.

Admission

Admission requirements

A successful applicant for admission to the Graduate Certificate in Veterinary Public Health Management will:
(a) hold a bachelor’s degree or higher award from the University of Sydney, or equivalent qualification, in veterinary science or animal science;
(b) In exceptional circumstances the Dean may admit applicants without these qualifications who, in the opinion of the faculty, have qualifications and evidence of experience and achievement sufficient to successfully undertake the award.
Previous study in an animal-health related field is required. Some basic skills in Microsoft Word and Excel would be an advantage. It is assumed that you have biostatistics knowledge at an undergraduate level. A short online course is available if you need background biostatistics.

Applications are made directly to the University and assessed by the Faculty. On-time applications for the March Semester close on 31 January. On-time applications for the July Semester close on 28 June. Late applications will be accepted, but priority is given to those who submit before the application deadline.

International students

How to apply

Overseas applicants can only study this course in their home country and may apply (i) directly to the University, or (ii) through a University overseas representative (education agent). This course is not available to international students studying in Australia with a student visa.

Postgraduate Domestic Tuition Fee

This 2014, tuition fee for a domestic postgraduate student represents the fee that is payable by you in the calendar year you commence your course, commencing in 2013 for a standard annual full time load of 48 credit points (1.0 EFTSL). If your study load is more or less than the 1.0 EFTSL your fee will differ.
